Premium Eco-Friendly Water-Based Ink for Textile Screen Printing

Key Features & Performance

Discover why global apparel brands and top-tier printers rely on our advanced water-based formulations.

Ultra-Soft Tactile Experience

Engineered to penetrate deeply into fabric fibers rather than sitting on the surface. After curing, it integrates seamlessly with the garment, delivering a premium “no-hand” feel highly sought after in luxury apparel.

High Opacity on Darks (HSA Technology)

Utilizing advanced High-Solid Acrylic (HSA) technology, this formula empowers printers to achieve brilliant, highly opaque colors on dark garments while fully preserving the signature soft-hand feel.

Optimal Breathability

Maintains the natural permeability of the textile fibers. By ensuring the fabric remains highly breathable, it serves as the ideal printing solution for lightweight summer collections and high-performance activewear.

Enhanced Screen Stability & Eco-Cleanup

Formulated with advanced rheology modifiers to extend open time on the mesh, effectively minimizing the risk of screen-clogging during long print runs. Features a water-washable profile, eliminating the need for harsh chemical solvents during cleanup.

Operational Process

Printing with water-based ink requires a different approach than plastisol. Follow these pro-tips:

1.Screen Preparation (Crucial)

You must use a Water-Resistant Emulsion (or apply a hardener/diazo). Standard plastisol emulsion will break down and melt upon contact with the water in the ink.

2.Mixing

For custom colors, mix Clear Base (for light fabrics) or High-Solid Base (for dark fabrics) with Eco-Friendly Pigment (max 6-8%).

3.Printing Technique

Flood heavily: Always keep the image area fully flooded with ink between prints to prevent the ink from drying and clogging the mesh.
Keep a spray bottle of water nearby. Lightly mist the screen if taking a short break.

4.Flashing & Final Curing (The Golden Rule)

Flashing: Flash at 100°C for a few seconds. Do not over-flash, or you will shrink the garment and over-cure the base layer.
Final Curing (The Golden Rule):
Water-based ink cures differently. First, the water must evaporate, then the acrylic binder cross-links.
Run through a forced-air tunnel dryer at 150°C for a full 2.5 to 3 minutes. If the water isn’t fully driven out, the print will wash off.

Buying Guide: Pain Points & Solutions

We understand our customers’ pain points and purchasing concerns.
Premium Eco-Friendly Water-Based Ink for Textile Screen Printing

“Water-based ink dries too fast and ruins my screens.”

Our Solution: Our formula includes advanced humectants. However, for extremely dry climates or long print runs, we offer a specialized Retarder Additive. Adding just 2-3% will significantly extend your screen open time without affecting wash fastness.
Premium Eco-Friendly Water-Based Ink for Textile Screen Printing

“It looks faded on black shirts.”

Our Solution: Standard water ink is translucent. For darks, use our Super Opaque White HSA Ink as an underbase. It sits on the fabric just enough to provide a brilliant white canvas, while maintaining 90% of the soft feel.

FAQ – Troubleshooting

Q1: Can I use water-based ink on 100% Polyester?

A: Pure water-based ink struggles to adhere to smooth polyester. We recommend adding our Low-Cure Catalyst/Crosslinker (1-2%) to the ink just before printing. This drops the cure temperature to 130°C and bonds chemically to synthetic fibers.

Q2: Why did my water-based print wash out in the laundry?

A: 99% of the time, this is under-curing. Unlike plastisol, water-based ink requires time as well as temperature. The water must evaporate completely before the binder sets. Ensure your garments are in the dryer for at least 2.5 minutes at 150°C.

Q3: Do I need a special squeegee?

A: A medium-soft squeegee (60 to 70 durometer) is ideal. It helps push the ink into the fabric fibers, which is the key to achieving that soft hand feel.

Q4: What is the difference between Discharge Ink and Water-Based Ink?

A: Discharge ink is a type of water-based ink that contains an active agent (usually Zinc-Formaldehyde-Sulfoxylate) that bleaches the dye out of the shirt. Our standard Water-Based ink is non-bleaching and simply covers the fabric fibers safely.

Q5: My water-based ink has thickened in the bucket. Can I just add water to thin it?

A: While you can add a maximum of 2-5% distilled water to adjust viscosity, over-thinning will break down the acrylic binder. This leads to a severe loss of opacity (especially on dark shirts) and poor wash fastness (the print will fade). We highly recommend using our specialized Viscosity Reducer (Thinner) instead of plain water to maintain the ink’s chemical integrity and color vibrancy.

Q6: Can I use water-based ink as an underbase for plastisol prints (Hybrid Printing)?

A: Yes! This is a highly popular technique known as “Hybrid Printing.” You can print our High-Solid Water-Based White as an underbase to keep the garment soft and breathable, flash it, and then print your standard plastisol colors on top for maximum vibrancy. However, note the reverse is not true: You cannot print water-based ink on top of a cured plastisol layer, as the water-based ink will not adhere to a plastic surface.
